RAYNHAM — Two Middleboro residents were injured when the car they were riding in collided with a motorcycle on Route 44 Wednesday March 19.

Two people on the motorcycle were critically injured, according to Raynham Police Chief David LaPlante and Raynham Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita.

The crash was reported at 5:34 p.m. on Route 44, about a mile west of the Route 24 interchange.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 55-year-old Taunton man, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with life-threatening injuries. His passenger, a 16-year-old girl whose address was not reported, was also transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with critical injuries.

A medical helicopter was requested, but could not land near the scene because of mechanical issues, police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2020 Toyota Camry was trying to make a left turn onto Route 44 westbound when it struck a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was headed east.

The driver of the Camry, a 74-year-old Middleboro woman, was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Her passenger, a 50-year-old Middleboro man, was transported to Morton Hospital in Taunton with injuries that were not specified.

Route 44 remained closed for nearly two hours as police investigated.

The crash remains under investigation by Raynham Police.
