Marjorie Melix Thomas, 95
Oct 09, 2026
Marjorie Melix Thomas, of Middleborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on
October 6th at the age of 95.
Born on September 11, 1931, in Sandwich, Massachusetts, Marjorie was the beloved daughter of Leon and Helen Melix. She will be remembered for her dedication to her church, family, and friends, as well as her love of summer and winter sports. She found much joy in floating the creek, the family pool, skiing the Alps, and coasting on the Big Hill.
Marjorie is survived by her sisters, Arlene and Pauline; her daughters, Linda Gross, wife of Terry Gross, and Trudy Thomas, partner of Peter Larson; daughter-in-law Norma Thomas, her grandchildren, Ryan Gross, husband of Rebecca Gross, Shane Thomas, Nathan Gross, and Zachary Thomas; and her great-grandchildren, Ariella Gross, Christian Thomas, Selah Gross, and Colton Thomas. She took an active part in birthdays, holidays, picnics, and other family gatherings and delighted in bringing her own humor and personal touch to every occasion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Linfield R. Thomas. Together with his brothers, they managed the Nemasket Construction Company in Middleborough.
Her siblings; Vivian, Fay, Donald, Bertram, and Carol; her son, Donald Thomas; and her grandson, Seth Thomas, also predeceased Marjorie.
A celebration of life will be held this summer in Sandwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders, Smiles for Kids, or, as Marjorie might have put it, “Trudy takes cash.”
Marjorie Thomas will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
TO OUR MARJORIE
by Helen Stets Melix
And now, another little lamb Is added to our fold
And proudly then I look at thee
As in my arms I hold,
Thy baby form so tenderly
Wrapped in garments white And may our God watch over thee
Each day and each long night,
And guide thy little baby feet
Thro' paths of righteousness
And let His law be thy laws, I pray for thy happiness.
