Charles (Charlie) Gordon Reynolds, 92
Oct 02, 2026
Charles (Charlie) Gordon Reynolds, 92, of Middleborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 27, 2026, at The Hannah B.G. Shaw Home. He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on April 2, 1934, and grew up on a farm in Randolph, MA.
Charlie Reynolds loved his family, his God, and his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1959 and during the Korean War was on the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea CV-43. He is a proud veteran whose life centered around his family. Charlie married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty,” (Walsh) in 1953. Together they shared more than five decades of marriage and raised eight children plus numerous foster children.
A diligent sturdy man, Charlie spent eighteen years working for HP Hood Inc. in Bridgewater, before beginning a lengthy career with the Town of Middleborough Public Works Department and retired in 1999 as the Wastewater Treatment Foreman. His work ethic and honesty are well renowned, and he took immense pride in being a dependable person.
Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, target shooting and being outside, often taking long walks in the woods with his dog. As a “Backyard Mechanic” he had a natural ability to understand how things worked and enjoyed repairing bicycles, lawnmowers or chainsaws for the neighbors and their kids.
Charlie passionately believed his greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a man who showed his love through his actions. When he was with his family and friends they received his undivided attention. He was always present in the moment and listening. He was also a creature of habit, and rarely deviated from his lunch of peanut butter and jelly. He was a strong, humble giving individual who spoke few words, but when he commented on a subject it articulated volumes.
He was predeceased by his wife Betty, his son Timothy who died as an infant, his brother Henry Reynolds and his sisters Isabelle Springhetti and Louise Carslon.
He is survived by his children, Robert “Mike” Reynolds of Leesburg FL, Stephen T. Reynolds of Middleboro, Donna Beckwith of Samamish WA (Forrest), Sheila White of Middleboro (Ken), Kathleen Misiaszek of Yarmouth (Paul), Maureen Noonan of Belchertown (Mark), Derrick Reynolds of Taunton, and Stephen D. Reynolds (Soraya) of Buena Park CA, as well as ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition, he leaves behind an extended family of nieces and nephews who lovingly knew him as “Uncle Sonny” and scores of friends. In particular his exceptional loyal friends and chosen family, Rob and
Denise Sisson of Middleboro, and their daughters Jessica, (her daughter Elowen) and Lyndall (Nate with their children Jadon, Amos and Lynnette) who loved Charlie.
Calling hours are Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 2 until 4 PM in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street, Middleboro. Military Honors will be rendered followed by a prayer service.
Burial will be private.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to your local veteran’s organization in the name of Charlie Reynolds.
