Rotary club members support annual charity bike-ride
The Middleboro and Lakeville Rotary Club recently volunteered at a rest station during one of the largest charity bike rides in the state on June 28.
The club supported cyclists riding in the “41st annual Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway” charity event, by staffing a refreshment station on a challenging 100-mile stretch, wrote the Rotary Assistant District Governor, J. Kevin Quackenbush.
Over 800 cyclists participated in the two-day, 150-mile bike ride that stretches from Quincy to Provincetown. The ride raises funds for the National MS Society, who funds research and empowers people who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Eight rotary club members cheered on and passed out refreshments to more than 100 cyclists while they staffed the Byrnes Sand and Gravel station on June 28.
“Club members described the experience as an ‘excellent volunteer day’ and look forward to continuing their support for such meaningful causes in the future,” wrote Quackenbush.
