Middleboro man charged with alleged sex trafficking of a child

MIDDLEBORO - A Middleboro man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sex traffic of a child.

        Kenneth Berry, 45, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston on one count of attempted sex trafficking of a child. Berry was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 23 and, following an initial appearance in federal court in Boston, was released on conditions

      According to the indictment, on or about June 12, 2026, Berry knowingly attempted to sex traffic a minor in Massachusetts.

 The charge of attempted sex trafficking of a child provides for a sentence of no less than 10 years and up to life in prison, five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes which govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division made the announcement Thursday, Sept. 24. Assistance was provided by the Massachusetts State Police, the Boston Police Department and the Brockton Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad A. Rocheville of the Criminal Division is prosecuting the case.

       The case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identity and rescue victims.
