David Gordon Goodfellow, 55, of Wilton, NH, formerly of Lakeville, MA, died September 15, 2026, following complications from surgery.

Dave is the beloved husband of Donna-Jean (Hopkins) Goodfellow, whom he married in 1994. Together, they raised their two children, Ethan and Becky (fiancée Anthony Rainey), in Lakeville. He is the cherished son of Gordon Goodfellow and his late wife Cathleen, and the brother of Kathryn Goodfellow (Darren Beals). He also leaves many much-loved nieces and nephews, extended family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives were made richer by knowing him.

A 1989 graduate of Apponequet Regional High School, Dave went on to serve his country for almost ten years as a medic in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and later the United States Naval Reserve. His commitment to learning continued throughout his life. He earned a bachelor's degree in public administration and a master's degree in accounting and finance from Southern New Hampshire University.

Dave devoted more than 25 years to the Lakeville Fire Department, joining them in 1992 and rising through the ranks to become Deputy Fire Chief in 2005. He also served as Interim Fire Chief during his tenure. Dave played an instrumental role in expanding Lakeville’s ambulance service, helping to build the emergency medical and paramedic capabilities that became an important part of the department’s service to the community. When Dave and his family moved to Wilton, New Hampshire, he brought that same spirit of service with him. He served as a firefighter/paramedic and captain with the Wilton Fire Department and paramedic with the Wilton Ambulance Service, bringing decades of emergency medical experience and advanced training to the community he now called home.

Dave’s idea of service was never confined to the fire station. His commitment to the community included serving on the Lakeville School Committee and the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee. He was also a member of May Flower Masonic Lodge in Middleborough, Massachusetts, for 25 years and served as Master of the Lodge in 2009.

Despite his professional accomplishments, Dave was most importantly an amazing and caring Dad and husband. He was a dedicated son, loving brother, and supportive uncle. The many titles he held over the years speak to what he accomplished and he was always ready to selflessly step-in and help anyone in need. He made a lasting impact everywhere he went and he will be missed by many people.

Calling hours will be held at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA, on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home on Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 AM followed by burial at Sampson Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Lakeville Animal Shelter, 8 Montgomery Street, Lakeville, MA 02347 in recognition of Dave’s love of animals.
