Learn about Lakeville history at upcoming open houses
LAKEVILLE -- The Lakeville Historical Society will hold three open house events on Sundays July 20, Aug. 9, and Sept. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the society’s museum, 442 Bedford St., Lakeville.
This is a free, rain or shine event.
All three buildings will be open and staffed with society members.
This is a chance to visit the Grove Chapel building and note the restored and repaired cupola. The Community Preservation Committee provided the grant that helped to pay for the work.
Inside check out how life was in rural Lakeville. The museum includes a number of collections, including veterans, children, and the chapel’s kitchen.
The museum also features Viger’s Carriage Shed houses, a farming collection and an old town safe. The Sampson Carriage Shed is home to Old Engine #3, a fire and police collection, trolley history, and a newly expanded Ted Williams collection.
In addition, society members and friends who are proficient in “slow crafts will share their talent and experiences.
These events are dedicated to the memory of three formerly very active members, President Brian Reynolds, Treasurer Susan Chadwickand Director Beverly Ingraham.
