Paul Vernon Vigers
BOURNE - Paul Vernon Vigers, of Bourne, formerly of Middleborough, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long courageous battle.
He was born to Diana (Williams) Vigers of Middleborough and the late Vernon “Skip” Vigers formerly of Middleborough. Paul was a kind, humble, and devoted family man. He loved the outdoors and took great pride in his work as a tree and wood cutter. The sound of a chainsaw, fresh-cut timber, and that satisfaction of a hard day’s work were all part of what made him feel most at home. Paul especially loved camping with his wife and getting lost on back roads, singing with the windows down to the old-time country music playing on the radio. He was a lifelong fan of the Wizard of Oz, collecting memorabilia and endlessly enjoying the classic story of courage, heart, and home. Nothing made Paul smile more than dogs. He would always go to them and say “Who’s a Good Boy?”. He wrote several poems including one titled “Who’s a Good Boy?” due to his sincere love for them.
Above all, Paul’s heart belonged to his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Ann (Moore) Vigers of Bourne; his children, Brian & wife Amanda Griswold of Marion, Jennifer Freitas & her partner Peter Carvalho of Lakeville and Raymond Vigers of New Bedford. He was a proud and adoring “Papa” and “Bubba” to his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Freitas & her partner Nicholas Leonardo of New Bedford, Juniper and Azalea Griswold of Marion and Joseph Carvalho of Lakeville. Paul is survived by his siblings, John Vigers of Middleborough, Laura Vigers of Bourne and James Vigers of Kissimmee, Florida. He also has many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will forever hold him close to their hearts.
Paul was the kind of person who would help anyone, no questions asked. He had a big heart, a stubborn spirit, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone who knew him. His love, loyalty, and generosity will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with love.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lakeville Eagles, 217 County Street, Lakeville, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 12:30-4:30 PM.
