Event Date:
MIDDLEBORO – Elaine Lebar began playing piano at the age of 3. She’s an accomplished performer, accompanist and composer. And now, living with dementia at a memory care unit in Buzzards Bay, she has become a TikTok star with more than 240,000 followers.
Her daughter, Randi Lebar, M.D, will present an inspirational talk on June 4, about her and her mother’s experience with TikTok stardom and the magic and power of music in dementia. The talk features videos of Elaine and lessons Randi learned along the way about finding meaning and joy in their relationship, in spite of her mother’s mental decline.
The program will take place at the Middleboro Public Library, 102 N. Main St., at 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public, thanks to the support of the Peirce Trust.
