Search Committee to begin looking at Middleboro town manager applicants
MIDDLEBORO – Early into Middleboro’s second interim town manager’s term, the Town Manager Search Committee is making progress toward hiring a new permanent town manager.
The deadline for applications closed on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The town’s human resource department will then hand all of the applications to the Search Committee to read through.
Select Board Chair Teresa Farley, who announced the update at the Sept. 28 Select Board meeting, said she had not been told the new total.
Joseph Mandile, the Search Committee’s chair, said that there were 21 applicants as of Sept. 14. This included new applicants and old ones from the previous application cycle.
The town reopened its search for a full-time replacement for former Town Manager Jay McGrail in early September. The consultant the town hired to help with the search process, Municipal Services, Inc., only showed a handful of the total number of applicants to the Search Committee. Mandile said there were some applicants he would have wanted to talk to had he known they applied before.
The Search Committee and the Select Board both decided it would be best to restart the process and have the Search Committee review all the applicants.
