Project Description: Middleborough – Reconstruction and Related Work on Wareham Street and Wood Street

A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed project in Middleborough, MA.
WHEN: 6:00 PM, Tuesday, July 21, 2026
PURPOSE: The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
PROPOSAL: The proposed project consists of improvements to Wareham Street and Wood Street from the intersection with North/South Main Street to Tiger Drive on Wood Street, a total distance of about 1 ½ miles. The proposed work includes pavement rehabilitation, construction of sidewalks and curb ramps to comply with ADA requirements, construction of a shared use path, traffic signal improvements, intersection geometry improvements and stormwater improvements. Bicycle accommodation along the corridor will be in the form of a shared use path along the north side of Wareham Street and Wood Street.
A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The town of Middleborough is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.

INVITATION FOR BIDS
Sealed bids for furnishing the following items will be received at the Office of the Department of Public Works, 65 Sachem Street Middleboro, MA 02346 until the time specified below at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read.
Bid Documents will only be available electronically on or after July 8, 2026. Email requests for bid documents to NorthStreet-2026-Bids@BETA-inc.com There is no charge for bid documents. Provide the company name, contact person, phone number and address in the email request. All addenda will be sent to the email address used to request the bid documents.
Bids will be opened at the Middleboro Department of Public Works facility located at 65 Sachem Street, Middleboro, MA 02346 on July 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Each Bid must be accompanied by a bid security consisting of a BID BOND, CASH, or, CERTIFIED CHECK issued by a responsible bank or trust company in the amount of 5% of the bid price.
A non-mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held on July 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM at 65 Sachem Street.
A performance bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the contract price with a surety company qualified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will be required for the faithful performance of the contract, as well as a labor and materials bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total contract price.
All bids for this project are subject to applicable public bidding laws of Massachusetts, including, but not limited to G.L. c.30, §39M.
Attention is directed to the minimum wage rates to be paid as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development and the weekly payroll record submittal requirements under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26 through 27D inclusive.
Selection of the contractor will be based upon bidder qualifications, including evidence of past performance in similar projects, and bid price. The contract will be awarded to the bidder deemed by the awarding authority to be the lowest responsible and eligible bidder.
The bidder agrees that its bid shall be good and may not be withdrawn for a period of 30 days, Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays excluded, after the opening of the bids.
The Town reserves the right to waive any informalities, to accept or reject, in whole or in part any or all bids, or take whatever other action may be deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.
