MIDDLEBORO — After a public vote on Thursday, Dec. 14, Blue Anchor Studio owner Robyn Iarrobino announced that the public had chosen the three best snowpeople out of the 84 that have been decorating the Middleboro town hall lawn.

According to the voters, the three best snowpeople are the “Denise Gilman Victorian Snowman,” “The Cran Man,” and “Snowman and his Bee Hive.”

The bees on the third snowman’s beehive were created by having Memorial Early Childhood Center students place thumbprints on the snowman, Iarrobino explained.

All of the snowpeople are made of a plastic cutout and are decorated in various costumes. Messages of kindness are written on the back of each snowperson.

At the public vote on Thursday, voters walked around on the lawn to take in each snowperson before casting their vote.

One of the snowman creators, Mason Lepage, was at the public vote. His snowman had the message “you matter” painted on the back of the plastic cutout. The message was “the first thing that came to my mind,” Lepage said.

Each snowperson cutout was sold for $25, and the money raised from the sales—approximately $1,400—was donated to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Middleboro.

The donation “was out of the blue,” said Sacred Heart Food Pantry Director David Cunningham. “I got a message on the phone that someone was doing this for us.”

“It’s just great that people are thinking of us,” he added.
