Parking lot project underway at Ted Williams Camp
LAKEVILLE — Visitors to Ted Williams Camp may have noticed a large ditch in the parking lot near the Council on Aging. That “infiltration basin” marks the first phase of a project to improve drainage and resurface the lot.
Town Administrator Andrew Sukeforth said work on the basin began two weeks ago. Once complete, the basin will capture and temporarily hold stormwater runoff, allowing it to gradually seep into the ground.
The improvement is intended to reduce large puddles forming in the parking lot. The basin will be seeded with grass once the project is finished.
After the drainage work is done, the parking lot will be graded, paved and striped with handicap spaces clearly marked, Sukeforth said .
The project, approved more than a year ago, is funded entirely through the federal American Rescue Plan Act, rather than town funds. The project’s total cost is $212,000.
