John A. Bartol, Sr.
John A. Bartol, Sr., died peacefully at home on August 31, 2026, following a lengthy illness and surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves behind his beloved wife Linda, with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on August 8, 2026, and their sons John A. Bartol, Jr. and his fiancée Catherine O’Donnell of Quincy, MA, and Christopher P. Bartol and his partner David Camarra of Ellsworth, ME.
John is survived by his sister Pamela (Bartol) Cavanaugh and her husband William Cavanaugh of Conway, South Carolina, and his brother Ronald Bartol and his wife Debora Bartol of Stockton Springs, ME. John was the eldest brother of the late Darrin Bartol. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Chester Anderson and his wife Julie of Halifax, MA, and sister-in-law Laurie Monahan of Brockton, MA, as well as several nephews and nieces.
John was born in Quincy, MA, son of the late Albert E. and Helen M. Bartol. The family lived in Quincy for a brief time and later moved to Abington, MA, before purchasing their final home in Whitman, MA. John completed his high school education in Abington, MA, graduating in 1966.
After graduation, John held various clerical / accounting jobs until 1982 when he began training in Cardiac Ultrasound, a field which greatly interested him. April 1983 he was employed at the former Goddard Memorial Hospital as a Cardiac Sonographer, a field in which he excelled in and in which he took great pride in treating each patient with kindness and compassion. He later joined Park Imaging in Taunton, MA, and in May 1993 worked at Park Medical Associates in Stoughton, MA, as Chief Cardiac Sonographer until health issues forced him to retire in January 1998.
During his medical career, John belonged to the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, American Society of Echocardiographers, Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, and the Back Bay Echo Club of Boston, MA.
In his younger years, John enjoyed running his Beagle, Danny, after rabbits in the woods, and in adulthood he enjoyed deer hunting with his friend Bobby Purchase.
John and Linda loved spending vacations in Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, ME, each year; and they passed their love of that area to their sons, one of whom lives year round in Maine.
John was a kind and loving husband and father, as well as a devoted uncle to his late nephew Timothy Monahan, who passed away in 2019 of Barth Syndrome.
John accepted Jesus Christ as his savior while a teenager, and he knew that when he closed his eyes on earth he would open them in Heaven to see Jesus.
Friends may call on September 28, 2026 (Monday) from 4:30 until 5:30 PM to the First Baptist Church of North Middleboro, 111 Plymouth Street (corner of Route 18). A Celebration of Life will follow. Interment will be private.
