Frederick B. Nobles, 77
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frederick B. Nobles, age 77, of Middleborough, Massachusetts. Fred departed from this world on June 8, 2026, after bravely battling Alzheimer's disease. Born on August 8, 1948, in Framingham, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of Robert and Lillian (McKellar) Nobles.
Fred was a graduate of Holliston High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an air traffic control officer before pursuing a career in journalism. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and enjoyed a fulfilling career in local newspapers. He began his journey as a reporter at the Taunton Daily Gazette and later served as a copy editor at the Brockton Enterprise, where his keen eye for detail and dedication to the craft earned him the respect of colleagues and readers alike.
Fred was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his passion for woodworking and carpentry. He demonstrated his creativity and craftsmanship by building two additions onto his cherished home and was always on the lookout for new home improvement projects.
Fred is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Scott Nobles, and his wife, Sei Young Kim, of Brooklyn, New York; his daughter, Carrie Nobles, and her husband, John Harner, of Northampton, Massachusetts. He will be deeply missed by his sisters, Linda Lannin and her husband, John, of Mount Vernon, New Hampshire, and Carol Grann and her husband, Barry, of New Brunswick, Canada, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Marion Nobles.
A memorial service to honor Fred's life will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to join his family in celebrating Fred's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Fred's name to the Alzheimer's Association, reflecting his courage and the love he shared with those around him.
