RAYNHAM - Edward "Ed" Thomas Daly, age 88, of Raynham, formerly of Middleborough, Randolph and Charlestown, died on Monday, December 1, 2025, surrounded by love, dignity and comfort. Ed was deeply loved and will be missed.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John & Lola (Miller Brown) Daly. Ed grew up in Charlestown, attended public schools and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School, Class of 1955. In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corp., actively served for seven years, and was honorably discharged in 1963. Ed worked in the newspaper industry; first for the Boston Herald Traveler from 1959-1972 and later at the Boston Phoenix as the Circulation Director from 1972-2001 and retired thereafter.
In retirement, Ed kept busy; travelling to Europe, National Parks, going on various cruises and vacationing annually in Aruba. He was a "history buff"; he loved reading, joking and anything military. Ed treasured time spent with family and friends, especially at the holidays.
Ed was the beloved husband of Antonietta M. (Galante-Foley) Daly of Raynham and the late Carol A. (McCarthy) Daly; loving father of John Daly & his wife Maura of Berkley, Kevin Daly & his wife Cheryl of Middleborough, Carol Daly McGrath & her husband Peter of East Brookfield, and Maryanne Blancarte & her husband John of Bridgewater; cherished grandfather of Eric, Tim, Kacey, Krista, Ed, Katie, Kelsey, and Maddox; great-grandfather of Avery, Bailey, Elliott, Blake, Finn, Lorenzo, Rory, Owen, Jack, Eamon and Aiden; adored brother of the late Lola Daly and John Daly; dear nephew of the late Ed Daly and Rosetta Upton.
There will be NO visiting hours.
Family and friends are welcome to Ed's Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, 30 South Main Street, Assonet, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
Interment services will be private.
Contributions in Ed's memory may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
