LAKEVILLE— The Lakeville Lions Fall Family Festival had it all, save fall weather. 

The eighth iteration of the fall celebration brought dozens of vendors, petting zoo animals, a bounce house, a dunk tank, hayrides and more to the Lakeville Lion’s clubhouse on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Kids, parents and grandparents sported smiles as they got henna tattoos, pet alpacas and drank locally brewed beer on the nearly 80 degree day. 

First time festival attendee Katelyn Rebello, who teaches at Assawompset Elementary School, loved seeing “all the familiar faces” in the crowd. “We had a blast,” she said. 

She especially loved the option to order food ahead of time for the festival and all the activities for children, she noted. 

Alyssa Reis appreciated that there were features not only for kids but adults too, such as the variety of merchandise and “beer,” she said, laughing. 

Her young son Wesley was a big fan of the dunk tank, one of the most popular features among  youngsters at the event. 

Wesley reveled in excitement as he described how he “throwed a ball” and watched a grown up “fall right off the diving board” into the water. 

At the dunk tank, kids threw a ball at a button that, when hit, sent a person suspended over the tank into the water. 

Another one of Wesley’s favorite features was the petting zoo, which gave him an opportunity to show off his counting skills. Lounging in fenced-in structures were “three alpacas” and “two sheeps,” he said, indicating the numbers with his fingers. 

Seven-year old Anabelle Varrichione got a chance to try the best popcorn she’s ever had at the festival, she said. 

During the event, the Lakeville Lions presented a $1,000 check to the Massachusetts Eye research Fund, one of the organization’s principal charities. 

The proceeds of the Fall Festival go toward Lion’s charities, according to festival director Chris Plonka.
