MIDDLEBOROUGH  -  Richard P. Poirier, age 69, of Middleborough, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025, with his family by his side.

Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Helen (Yesucevitz) & Armand Poirier and his late wife Genevieve (Lowe) Poirier.  Rich served in the US Air Force for four years.  Following his service, he moved to Wyoming where he had his oldest daughter, Mandy and worked diligently in the oil fields.  He returned to Brockton, where he began his career as an electrician at the VA hospital, where he met his wife, Janet.  They settled in Middleborough, where they grew their family by four additional children.

After achieving his master electricians license, Rich began working at Square D, later renamed Schneider Electric, as Senior Field Representative of New England.  He reluctantly (sorta, kinda, not really) retired in 2024.

During his free time, Rich enjoyed golfing, watching New England sports, and playing pool competitively with his beloved nephew, Shaun.  Rich loved spending time with his good friends.  He could always be found with his friends at the Elks or the M.M.C.  He often traveled to Florida, where he enjoyed floating in his pool for relaxation. He also enjoyed cooking his famous meatballs for "spaghetti feeds".

Rich was the beloved husband of Janet (Karalekas) Harmon-Poirier; loving father of Amanda Co & her husband Harvey of Japan, Steven Harmon & his partner Corina Joy of Middleborough, Kyle Poirier of Middleborough, Jenna Grasso & her husband Mark of Tennesse and Emily Poirier & her fiancé John Giacobbi of Middleborough; adoring grandfather of Ryan Co; brother of Donna Daylor & her husband Peter Akeke of Middleborough and Linda Tetrault & her husband Jimmy of North Carolina. "Uncle Rich" is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who became family.
