Middleboro and Lakeville voters will soon head to the polls to cast their ballots. Election Day is Saturday, April 1 in Middleboro and Monday, April 3 in Lakeville.

Voters in both towns will choose among a slate of candidates for select board.

In Lakeville, that is the only contested race. Three candidates are vying for one seat: Maureen Candito, Brian Day, and William Hoeg. The top vote-getter will replace Richard LaCamera, who is not seeking re-election.

In the Middleboro Select Board race, incumbents Nathan Demers and Mark Germain are being challenged by Thomas White for two open seats.

Middleboro voters will also make their selection for two separate seats on the School Committee.

Three candidates are vying for two, three-year seats: Jessica Rae Chartoff, Allin J. Frawley and Eric Viera Machado. They are seeking the posts now held by Teresa Kelly Farley and Meghan M. Jenness, who are not running for re-election.

Two contenders are seeking the two-year unexpired term previously held by Richard Peter Oakley Jr., who resigned. The seat is being sought by Christopher W. Benson and Nicholas A. O’Roak. The winner of the race will serve two years through 2025.

All other races on the Middleboro ballot are uncontested but some will still be filled by newcomers.

Incumbent Ellen M. Farley Wylie is seeking re-election for a three-year term on the Gas & Electric Commissioners.

Incumbent Paula M. Burdick is running again for a three-year post on the Board of Assessors.

The Finance Committee has no contested races but will sport some new faces. Three positions are open.

Park Commission candidates are incumbent Scott Holmes and newcomers Brynna Donahue and Melisa Turcotte. Donahue is running to take over the unexpired term of Michael Cassani.

Incumbents M. John Olivieri and Ruth S. Gross are running unopposed for re-election to the positions of Town Assessor and Library Trustee, respectively.

Incumbent Christopher D. Spratt is running without opposition for a seat on the Board of Health.

Write-in votes will make a big difference in the five races that have no candidates on the ballot.

Those races are: A five-year term on the planning board, a one-year term as town moderator, a three-year term on the finance committee, a two-year term on the cemetery commission, and a two-year term on the park commission.

Town Clerk Lillian Drane will offer the position to the candidate who receives the most write-in votes, if he or she is a town resident. If the winner declines the position, the Select Board has the authority to appoint someone to the vacant position.

Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on April 3. All precincts vote at Ted Williams Camp’s Loon Pond Lodge at 23 Precinct St.
