Students win Elks essay contest

MIDDLEBORO — Four students have won the National Elks Americanism Essay Contest for Middleboro Elks Lodge 1274, Laura O’Connor, chair of the Americanism Committee for the lodge, has announced.
The essay topic was “What is My American Dream?”
Winners were: Division I grade 5, Niko Melville; Division II grade 6, Samuel Lane; Division III grade 7, Lindsey Rahwan and Division IV grade 8, Thomas Lane.
Each winner received an award certificate and a $100 gift card prize. Copies of their essays were sent to the district coordinator to be sent to the state contest. If they win for Massachusetts, they will then be sent to the national contest.
