Service to dedicate Madison Gallagher blanket project
The Lakeville United Church of Christ will have a joint Sunday Service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2 with North Congregational Church United Church of Christ.
Part of the service will also focus on the Madison E. Gallagher Blanket Project dedication.
The service will take place at 1 Precinct St. in Lakeville and will be led by new Pastor Rev. Kim Engle. Communion will be offered, including gluten free bread.
Madison was born to Lakeville United Church of Christ members Kena and David Gallagher on Feb. 2, 2015. Due to medical issues, she died on Nov. 27, 2015, at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
In 2016, the Madison Project began. Each year, Loretta Baldwin coordinates a colorful display of remembrance in the sanctuary.
Church members, friends, the Knotty Hookers of Middleboro and Kim Mulgrew create and donate hand-crafted blankets, sweaters and other items in Madison's memory.
All items are donated to the Hasbro Children's Hospital for babies and children in medical need.
