Over 320 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of fentanyl seized this year in Middleboro
MIDDLEBORO -- Middleboro Police have seized more than 320 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of fentanyl since January, police reported.
This effort is part of a “continued proactive enforcement efforts targeting narcotics trafficking and related criminal activity in our community,’’ Police Chief Robert Ferreira said,.
In addition to the specific drug seizures, police noted that investigations, traffic stops, search warrants and follow-up enforcement efforts have resulted in at least six major narcotics arrests and the recovery of an assault style firearm and large-capacity magazines.
Ferreira noted that these investigations involved patrol officers, detectives, narcotics investigators and regional law enforcement partnerships working together to identify and disrupt the distribution of dangerous drugs in the community.
"This work is time-intensive and resource-intensive. It often involves long-term investigations, surveillance, search warrants, traffic enforcement and coordinated follow-up efforts," Ferreira said. "Our ability to proactively target narcotics trafficking depends heavily on having officers available not just to respond to typical calls for service, but to conduct these types of long-term investigations.’’
He said that the department “remains committed to addressing narcotics activity and protecting the safety and quality of life of our residents."
