Marie Elizabeth (Lindfors) Cannon, 87

MIDDLEBOROUGH  -  Marie Elizabeth (Lindfors) Cannon, age 87, of Middleborough, died peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.

Born in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Marjorie (Riley) Johnson and the late Victor Lindfors.  Marie grew up in Middleborough, attended public schools and graduated Middleborough High School, Class of 1955.  She got married and started her family, having seven children.  Marie worked various jobs; she was a switchboard operator, a waitress and later worked as a secretary in medical billing.  She loved to knit and crochet; over the years, Marie crocheted sweaters for family members as well as many hats, some for (infant) preemies which she donated to local hospitals and some for the soldiers serving overseas to wear under their helmets.  She was known in the neighborhood as the "Mad Hatter".  Marie was a simple lady and led a simple life; she liked the outdoors, travelling to Maine and doing crossword puzzles.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Cannon; loving mother of David Medas & his wife Karen of Middleborough, Richard Medas & his wife Gerrie of Mattapoisett, Robert Medas of West Roxbury, Elaina Laura of Middleborough, Peter Medas & his wife Wendy of Ledyard, Connecticut, and the late Karena LeBlanc and Leo LeBlanc; adoring grandmother of Tara, Michael, Heather, Matthew, Danielle, Carl, Robert, Tabitha, Michelle, Max, Kacy, and the late Candice, Adam and Trista; great-grandmother of 17; great great-grandmother of one; dear sister of Barbara Lindfors of Middleborough, Robert Lindfors of Delaware, and the late Victor Lindfors.  Marie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley~Drolette Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 3:00-6:00 PM.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Ashley~Drolette Funeral Home, Middleborough, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, starting at 9:45 AM, followed by Marie's Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Isidore Parish, SACRED HEART CHURCH, 340 Centre Street, Middleborough, at 10:30 AM.

Interment services will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
