MIDDLEBORO -- The Walnut Feral Society, a Middleboro organization dedicated to helping feral cats, is hosting Cans for Cats.
The society is collecting clean, returnable bottles and cans. There is a drop box at 135 Walnut St., Middleboro.
The society supports trap, neuter and release, often known as TNR. Through this program, feral cats are trapped, fully vetted by medical staff and neutered or spayed.
Younger cats enter a foster home to prepare for adoption. Some of the older cats are also adjust to domestic life and can be adopted.
Most feral cats are unable to adapt and are returned to their habitat, no longer able to produce as many as three or four litters each year. A caregiver will then feed them and monitor their health.
