JoAnne (Powers) Cadorette, age 92 years, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026.
She was the loving wife of James W. Cadorette, to whom she was married for 68 years. James and JoAnne were united in marriage on April 21, 1957 and raised their seven children in Middleboro.
JoAnne was born in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Elizabeth (Lillis) Powers. One of 10 children, she lived in Danvers, MA before moving to Middleboro where she resided for most of her life.
She was a graduate of Middleboro High School, class of 1951, and a graduate of Bridgewater State College, class of 1955, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
She taught in the Reading, MA and Middleboro Public Schools, and later was a substitute teacher with the READS Collaborative Program of Middleboro where she learned sign language and continued her love of teaching.
JoAnne was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Ladies Sodality and a catechist for many years in the religious education program. Her passions included her faith, spending time with family and friends, reading, fine arts and traveling, and she was a gifted pianist. She was so gentle, kind and compassionate, caring for many friends and family who were in need over the years.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her children, James J. Cadorette, Neal Cadorette and his wife Leslie, Peg Smith and her husband Mark, Claire Cadorette, Peter Cadorette and his wife Kathy, John Cadorette, and Anne Newell and her husband Steve. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Peg and Fred Correia, Brenda Calligan and John and Marilyn Powers, as well as her sisters-in-law Bonnie Powers and Linda Powers, and her brother-in-law Thomas Comeau.
She cherished her 7 grandchildren, Michael Smith and his wife Emily, Matthew Smith and his wife Hillary, Tyler Smith, Sarah Smith, Evan Cadorette, John Cadorette and Lindsey Cadorette, and her 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Ella, Cameron, Riley and Halle Smith.
In addition to her parents, JoAnne was predeceased by her siblings, Kathleen Lynch, Joseph Powers, Elizabeth Cabral, Terence Powers, Thomas Powers and Rosemary Comeau.
She was blessed with many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd from 4:00-6:00 PM at the O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street, Middleboro, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 23rd at 10:00 AM at Saint Isidore Parish, 340 Center Street, Middleboro. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middleboro.
