Holiday spirit parades through Middleboro
MIDDLEBORO — The streets of Middleboro transformed into a winter wonderland of holiday fun as the town celebrated its annual Christmas parade Saturday, Nov. 30.
From bands playing holiday tunes to dancers decked out in their glittery best to young athletes greeting their fans, the parade featured a holiday spread of good cheer.
Floats from area organizations and businesses reflected the year’s theme of A Hollywood Christmas.
Participants reflected all age groups, and even a menagerie of animals, including dogs, sheep, goats and horses.
Four-year-old Aviannah Spencer had a favorite _ “the Grinch’’ _ and the green grouch-turned-believer was well represented during the event, riding vehicles, hovering over floats and even appearing as a disguise on a horse.
Many parade participants tossed sweet treats into the crowd, making instant fans of youngsters such as Lilah Hill, who shared that she hopes Santa will bring her LOL dolls and a hoverboard.
“Getting candy’’ was the best part of the parade, she said.
Raina Meack, 4, proudly displayed the Toys for Tots material that was distributed.
Her favorite attraction was the man of the hour, “Santa Claus.’’
But in a slightly quieter voice, she added another appeal to the festivities. “The candy.’’
