Identity and cause of death remain unknown for 68-year-old man who died following neighbor dispute in Middleboro
MIDDLEBORO — Neighbors are still looking for answers as law enforcement officials have not provided any information as to how a man died following a neighbor dispute in Middleboro earlier this week.
On Wednesday, Feb. 25, Middleboro police responded to a multi-family School Street residence where they found an unresponsive 68-year-old man, who was later pronounced dead at a Taunton hospital. His identity and the cause of death are unknown, and if a second man — who allegedly assaulted a responding police officer at the home — is connected to the death remains unclear.
According to the Middleboro Police, officers responded to a 911 call for a report of a “neighbor dispute” at 21 School St. Wednesday evening. No other information of what the calls entailed, or of the dispute itself is known.
Multiple neighbors of the School Street residence said they have only heard rumors of the incident, and it was unclear if they knew what had happened on Wednesday night or the identities of residents at the home.
While police responded to the scene, the second man — whose name has not been released — was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest, according to the district attorney’s office.
Law enforcement officials have not said if the man was connected to the 68-year-old’s death except that he was arrested “in a related incident at the address.”
Law enforcement officials have also not released any information on how the 68-year-old man died — including if it was due to physical violence.
On Saturday, residents present at the 21 School St. home said they did not want to talk to a reporter.
Middleboro and state police said a death investigation is being conducted, and the investigation is ongoing. Police said it appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.
This is an ongoing story.
