Marie Guidotti Nolan, 69
Marie Guidotti Nolan, 69, of Lakeville, Massachusetts, passed away on October 12, 2026, following complications from a courageous, six-year battle with leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Also a survivor of breast cancer, Marie spent more than a decade fighting multiple forms of cancer.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1957, Marie was the daughter of Richard and Marilyn Guidotti. She shared 41 wonderful years in Lakeville with her husband, Michael J. Nolan, where they raised their family and were deeply involved in their community. The mother of four children, Marie was a fierce protector and nurtured an extremely tight-knit family.
Marie devoted her professional life to caring for others. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University in 1980 and later received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2018, while working full time. She worked as the school nurse at Freetown and Assawompset Elementary Schools when her children were school-aged. She then worked for many years at Boston Children's Hospital, first as a nurse in the Emergency Department, and later working her way up in the case management department to Director of Utilization Review. Post-retirement, Marie continued to work in utilization review at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth.
Marie was a long-time member of Lakeville United Church of Christ, where she served as treasurer, sang in the choir, served on the stewardship committee, and participated in the women's fellowship. Her faith and sense of community were important parts of her life. She also found strength, friendship, and connection through the leiomyosarcoma support group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Outside of her work and community involvement, Marie embraced life with enthusiasm and creativity. She enjoyed gardening, baking, barbershop singing, crafting, traveling, shopping, kayaking, reading, participating in book clubs, and spending time at the beach. Most recently, Marie took up golfing. She especially loved camping with her family, and hosting "Camp Mémère" for grandson Julian, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Above all, Marie cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud Mémère, and treasured friend who deeply impacted those in her life. Her loyalty, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her will be remembered by all who knew her.
Marie is survived by her loving husband, Michael J. Nolan; her children: Rich and partner, Erin Vautour; Emily and wife, Claire Sommers; Mariah and partner, Jean Pierre; and Kate, and husband Spencer Scaife; her grandson, Julian and future granddaughter, expected in February; her siblings Arthur Guidotti and Angie Lovelin; and many extended family members and close friends. She also leaves behind a community of loved ones whose lives were forever touched by her presence.
Marie will be deeply missed, but her legacy of honesty, love, and service will live on through her family, friends, and the countless people she cared for throughout her life.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street in Lakeville, Massachusetts. A funeral service celebrating Marie's life will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Lakeville United Church of Christ located at 1 Precinct Street, followed by a celebration of life luncheon.
