Thanksgiving dinner, holiday events coming up at Lakeville COA

LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville senior center is getting ready for the holiday season with lots of upcoming events. 

Effective October 1, the Council on Aging’s Friday hours have changed. The COA will now only be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. Friday morning cafe hours will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

The COA’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner will take place Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 12 p.m. This event will be held at Loon Pond Lodge at Ted Williams Camp. Signups were required. Those on the waiting list will receive a call if a seat becomes available. Doors open no earlier than 11:30 a.m.

The second Annual Festive Fall S.A.L.T. Triad Luncheon will be held Monday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. Signups were required. Those on the waiting list will receive a call if a seat becomes available. 

The period for Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7. Provide the office with necessary information and a S.H.I.N.E. counselor will reach out. 

The annual Holly Jolly Christmas Luncheon Event will take place Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 12 p.m. Sign-ups for Lakeville residents begin on Nov.12 and cost is $10 per person. For others, sign-ups begin Nov. 15. Cost is $10 per person. 

Outreach Counselor & Social worker, Karen Fisher is available by appointment from from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday. Contact COA outreach at 508-947-7224 and press 4.

The Lakeville Select Board office hours at the COA are Friday, November 8 from 10 to 11 a.m.

State rep Norman Orrall will be at the COA Monday, Nov. 4 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

State senator Michael Rodrigues will be at the COA Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m.

Attorney Adam Bond will offer free 20-minute consultations for Lakeville seniors by appointment only on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Nurse Carol will check blood pressure on Monday, Nov. 4 & 18 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. 

The Lakeville Fire Department will be here on Friday, Nov. 1 & 15 this month during coffee hour.  

Veteran’s Agent Christine Boone’s hours are 9 to 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 8 to 3 p.m. on Fridays. She is available at cboone@lakevillema.org or 508-946-8824.

The PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP meets the first and second Tuesday of this month at 10n a.m.

The next book club meeting is Monday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.

A Pop Up Art Class teaching students how to make needle felted wreath brooches will take place Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sign-ups required. Cost is $5 per person. 

An OCES Dementia Presentation will take place Tuesday, November 12 at 1 p.m.

The Caregiver Support Group will meet  Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. 

Mobile Foot Care services will be provided from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21.

This month’s movies are Top Gun, on screen Friday, Nov. 15 at 12 p.m. and Top Gun: Maverick, on screen Monday, Nov 25 at 1 p.m.

The COA is looking for BUNCO players. No experience is needed to play this no stress game of luck. Game time will be Fridays at 10 a.m. Call 508-947-7224 to sign up and Sherry will provide more information and a start date. 

The dates for the January Digital Literacy class are Thursdays, Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30, classes start at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per person due at signup. Call 508-947-7224.
