Maureen M. (Remillard) Otto, 79

Aug 24, 2025
Maureen M. (Remillard) Otto passed away on August 17th, 2025 at the age of 79. She grew up in Middleborough but moved to Carver in 1968 with her husband, Francis, her son Daniel Otto and daughter Stacey Kelly (Otto).

Maureen worked at Earth Shoe Company but ended up pursuing cosmetology school. Once her schooling was completed, she worked at Eileen’s Beauty Salon and Cathy’s Beauty Nook in Middleborough. Her husband Francis Otto had an addition built onto their Carver home so Maureen could own and operate her own hair salon, Maureen’s Beauty Salon. Her salon was filled with clients that were like family and was open for 47 years, where she was accompanied by her daughter Stacey for 29 of them.

Maureen was the life of the party. From her infectious laugh, to her sentimental prayers she would say for anyone, she was always there for you. Maureen would put anyone before her, unless
you were canoe racing. Church Songs and Happy Birthday songs, Maureen’s voice was filled with nothing but love and sincerity. She enjoyed countless camping trips with her children and grandchildren, bingo nights, playing blackjack, family vacations and especially the cruises.

Maureen retired at the age of 70 in 2015 and moved to South Meadow Village in Carver. The move to a 55+ community was to aid her husband until he later passed in 2018.

In 2024, Maureen moved into the Hannah B.G. Shaw home where she enjoyed activity nights, dancing and lots of bingo. She lived out the rest of her life there, later developing Alzheimer’s. Maureen will be
missed by her children, Daniel and Vicki, Stacey (Otto) Kelly and grandchildren, Kolton and Jessica, Kyler and Carly, Kaden and Rachel, Kayley andTusani, Devin and Michaela; her Great-Grandchildren, Karter, Karsyn, Kallum, Christopher, Lily, Daxtin and Ashman will grow up knowing they have a beautiful angel always watching over them. Sister of Ronald and Georgianna Remillard, the late Peter and his surviving wife, Nancy and the late William Remillard.  Sister-in-law of Richard and Betty Ann Otto.  Also survived by nieces and nephews, their families and her dog, Sammie.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home Activities Department, 299 Wareham Street, Middleboro, MA, which would be greatly appreciated. Maureen loved spending her time with activities and donations would help other residents enjoy their remaining years.
