Freetown Lakeville Superintendent out of running for Hingham job
LAKEVILLE — Freetown Lakeville superintendent Alan Strauss is no longer in the running to serve as Hingham High School Principal.
Hingham Public Schools will hire an interim principal while the district continues the search to find a permanent principal next year, announced Hingham Schools Superintendent Margaret Adams in an update to the school community on Monday, June 24.
This decision comes after Strauss was interviewed as the only remaining finalist for a permanent position on Tuesday, June 11.
Straus said he respected Hingham school district’s decision to “change process” and hire an interim principal. “Am I disappointed? Of course I am,” he said in regard to not being selected for the job.
Adams stated in the update that “upon careful consideration of community feedback and given the abbreviated nature of the search, a decision was made to move forward with a one-year interim appointment to support a broader, more comprehensive search next year.”
Strauss became the top candidate for the position after the second finalist, Robert Shaw, withdrew his application after signing a contract to serve as the new principal of Hull High School, according to the Hingham Anchor.
Hingham Public Schools appointed Dr. John Buckey to serve as interim principal to replace current principal Rick Swanson, who recently announced his resignation. John Buckey served previously as the Superintendent of Marblehead Public Schools, the Hingham superintendent reported.
