Paul Leo Cabral, 81
BRADENTON, FL — Paul Leo Cabral (US Army, Ret.), 81, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Middleboro, died Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Theodore and M. Louise (Gumbs) Cabral. Paul graduated from Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. He enlisted
in the U.S. Army where he served for 25 years.
Paul served two tours in Vietnam and served in Operation Desert Storm. He was awarded the meritorious service medal (3 rd oak leaf cluster), Army commendation medal, good conduct medal and Vietnam service medal. Paul also served as a drill instructor.
Paul was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He enjoyed golf, fishing, cooking, sudoku, and horse racing.
Survivors include his daughter, Paula Baughns and her husband William of McDonough, GA; his brothers, Rudolph Cabral and Richard Cabral and his wife Sandra all of Rochester, and
Edward Cabral of Los Angeles, CA; his sisters, A. Christina Cabral and Yvonne Alexander and her husband Robert all of FL; his grandchildren, Siera Cabral, Fallon Ballard and her husband John, Tyra Jenkins and her husband Troy; his great grandchildren, Tayden Cabral, Tahlia Ballard and Eden Ballard; his nieces and nephews, Charles, William (Cindy), Michael Cabral, William and Naomi Thompson, Robin (Keith), Nicole Cabral, Richard (Shelley), David (Melissa) Cabral, Robert, Jessica, Jason and Rachel Alexander, Heather Cabral (Gary), Charles III, Raquelle, Benjamin, Darius, Mason, Tyron, Tianna, Amelia, Jaden and Brooklyn. Also surviving are his good friends and “Angels”, Laura O’Connor, Joanne Loiselle and Katrina Bettencourt.
Paul was predeceased by his son, the late Troy Cabral of Bradenton, FL. Even though he was in Florida for a short time, his next-door neighbors Sue and Michael J. referred to Paul as their brother.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM with interment in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
