LAKEVILLE — The several inches of snow that fell in Lakeville gave Dawn Gould the chance to create a snowy owl sculpture on her back porch.

When it was finished, she carefully carried it through her home to her front porch to share with her neighbors.

Then she sent it to Nemasket Week to share with all her neighbors in Lakeville and Middleboro.

Although they may not usually hang out on back porches, snowy owls are winter visitors to Massachusetts. They hunt and feed in open areas like agricultural fields, salt marshes, and beaches. They are most commonly seen in the late winter and early spring
