Two run to represent Republicans in 2nd Plymouth District race
Representative Susan Williams Gifford, the incumbent in the 2nd Plymouth District, will face a Republican challenger, John Gaskey, in the race to retain her seat. No Democratic or Independent candidates have entered the race. This district includes the town of Middleboro.
Gifford was elected to the House in 2002, and previously served three years as a member of the Wareham Select Board.
Her challenger, Gaskey is a 23-year veteran of the Coast Guard who has worked since his retirement in the medical field.
The Massachusetts State Primary will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Middleboro Republicans in districts 3, 6 and 7A can cast their ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. District 3 will vote at the South Middleboro Fire Station, 566 Wareham Street; District 6 will vote at Middleboro High School, 71 E Grove Street; District 7A will vote at John T. Nichols, Jr. Middle School, 112 Tiger Drive.
