Jul 28, 2025

MIDDLEBORO — The Unitarian Universalist Church of Middleboro has announced the appointment of William Smith as its new Director of Music Ministry, effective Aug. 1.

Smith, an accomplished pianist, organist, choral director and composer, brings a wide range of musical experience to the role. He will oversee the church’s music programming, including choir and instrumental performances, concert planning, repertoire selection and music education.

He plans to invite outside musicians to perform during Sunday services, which are open to the public, and will also offer music lessons during the week.

“Music represents a perfect outward expression of one’s inner spirituality,” Smith said. “It’s both uplifting and joyous, yet meditative and healing – it unites us in spirit.”

Smith earned his Bachelor of Music from Florida State University and a Master of Music from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge.
