LAKEVILLE — The Ted Williams Camp Alumni Association will host a Jimmy Fund benefit from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at Loon Pond Lodge, Ted Williams Camp, 28 Precinct St., Lakeville.
The event will feature music, bingo, food and drink and silent auction and door prizes. The fund-raiser is organized and sponsored by alumni of the former Ted Williams Camp, a long-time summer program that taught youths about baseball.
Ted Williams, the camp’s namesake and former owner, was a long-time supporter of the Jimmy Fund, which was founded in Boston in 1948 and features fund-raising events and programs that benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The former Red Sox slugger made many appearances at events and organizations to promote the cause, according to the Jimmy Fund. He was also known for making many under-the-radar visits to children battling cancer.
Tickets are $20 for children and $30 for adults. Tickets may be purchased by visiting https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jimmy-fund-benefit-at-ted-williams-camp-tickets-894458247697.
