Spring fling features crafts - and arts

LAKEVILLE – From wreaths to soaps to wall decorations, plenty of potential Mother’s Day gifts filled craft booths at Spring Fling, which took place Saturday, April 29 at Loon Pond Lodge.

But Hannah Darling went a step further: She made one herself.

“It’s coming up pretty quick,’’ she said, and she and a group of friends created stepping stone designs that can be used in gardens. “So that’s the plan.’’

Giving the community an outlet for creativity was a goal of the event, which was sponsored by the Lakeville Arts Council.

The event featured a craft fair in one portion of the building, and workshops on the other.  These workshop offered a free opportunity to expand one’s creativity.

The Spring Fling was the latest entry for the council, which also hosts a concert series in July; an arts and music festival in September; and an annual holiday event.

This was a nice addition to the line-up, said Jacqueline Kennedy, a member of the council. “People are leaving with nice bags of homemade things,’’ she said.
