Snow plow trucks catch fire in Lakeville
LAKEVILLE — Two snow-plow trucks caught fire in Lakeville, damaging the vehicles but no passengers.
Lakeville Firefighters were dispatched to the area of Bedford Street and Lakeside Avenue for a reported "outside fire" Saturday night. The Lakeville Fire Department responded to a business on Bedford Street, where they found two heavy-duty plow trucks fully engulfed in fire.
The trucks had been deployed throughout the week during blizzard recovery operations, according to the department. Numerous other plow trucks, assorted heavy equipment and a maintenance building were in danger of being destroyed by the fire.
Firefighters were able to stop the advancing fire, limiting damage to the two original vehicles. The cause of the fire is not known, according to the department.
The department stated both trucks had been stationary for more than 24 hours after logging more than 100 hours of operation during the storm response.
The Lakeville Fire Department could not be contacted for additional information by publication.
