LAKEVILLE — Enjoy the changing of the season with activities and company at the Lakeville senior center. 

The Council on Aging Outreach Services are available to assist seniors and their families on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only.

Friday morning cafés are held from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

A member of the Lakeville Select Board will be visiting the Council on Aging on Friday, Sept. 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

State Representative Norman Orrall will be visiting the COA on Monday, Sept. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

State Senator Michael Rodrigues will host office hours on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. 

Blood Pressure with Carol will be held on Sept. 9 & 23 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. No appointment necessary. 

The Lakeville Fire Department will come by during coffee hour only on Friday, Sept. 20 to do blood pressure checks. No appointment necessary.

Lakeville’s new Veteran’s Agent Christine Boone will be working full time Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Agent Boone can be reached at cboone@lakevillema.org or at the following numbers: 508-946-8824 or 508-947-7224 at extension 3. 

S.H.I.N.E. (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) Counselors are available by appointment. Call the office at 508-947-7224 for more information. 

Lakeville COA provides van transportation Monday through Friday from approximately 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Lakeville residents only. You must be 60 years older or have a disability and be GATRA approved. Transportation goes between Lakeville and Middleboro only. Ride reservations require 24 hours notice and cost $1.75 one way and $3.50 roundtrip. Passes that include 10 rides are also available for $15. Call the COA to reserve or to ask about out-of-town medical rides. 

On Friday, Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m. there will be a special presentation to re-establish the Writer’s Group. Sign ups have already started, walk-ins are welcome. Call the office at 508-947-7224 and press 1 to sign up. 

The Grief/Loss support group will hold a session on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. Sign-ups are not required and walk-ins are always welcome. 

The next event in the Focus on Lakeville series will be held Friday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. and will feature a presentation by Lakeville Lion’s Club member Chris Plonka and guest speaker Deborah Horner from Paws of Comfort, who will bring along comfort dog Luna. Sign ups are required, but walk-ins are always welcome. Call the office to sign up.

The next book club meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. The club is reading “The Winter Garden” by Kristin Hanna. Sign-ups are not required and walk-ins are always welcome. 

Make your own hand-made cards on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Happy Mail Card Making class. Sign ups are required. Call the office at 508-947-7224 and press 1. Cost is $10 per person. 

“Fancy Footwork” Falls Prevention Workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. Sign ups are required and start immediately. Call 508-947-7224 and press 1. 

Learn how to play the ukulele with teacher during a ukulele fundamentals class Thursday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. 25 ukuleles will be provided but attendees are encouraged to bring their own if they have one. Cost is $5 per person at the time of sign up. There will be no refunds. Sign ups are required and have already started. Call the office and press 1. 

Brain Builders will continue with classes on Tuesday, Sept.3 and 17 at 1 p.m. All are welcome. Sign ups begin immediately. Call 508-947-7224 and press 1 to sign up. 

Join us Monday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. for chair massages. Space is limited. Cost is $5 and is due at sign-up. Sign ups start immediately. Call the office to sign up.

Arts & Crafts with Amy will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. Cost is $20 and includes supplies. Call the office and press 1 to sign up. 

Bingo, lunch and prizes will take place Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 12 p.m. Call the office and press 1 to sign up. Space is limited and sign ups are required. Cost is $5 due at sign-up. 

Film showings this month are “Just Getting Started” on Monday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. and “5 Flights Up” on Monday, Sept. 30 at 1p.m. Call the office to sign up. Admission is $2 per person per movie. 

Congregate meals will be held on Sept. 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, and 30 at 12 p.m. Payment is not required, although a suggested donation of $2.50 may be left. Sign-ups are required the week before. Call the office and press 1 to sign up.
