Sip n Stroll Harvest brings ‘hallmark’ moment to Middleboro
MIDDLEBORO — Not an inch of green was visible on Middleboro’s Town Hall lawn the evening of Saturday, Sept. 14, as shoppers, vendors and food trucks came together to take part in Sip & Stroll’s fall event.
Valerie Rufo, who helps coordinate Sip & Stroll and sold her handmade pottery at the fair, noted how the crowd keeps getting bigger each year.
Watching how everything comes together as nearly 100 vendors set up their tents, is a “like hallmark moment” she said.
Lorna Brunelle’s marketing of the event is one of the main reasons Sip & Stroll has grown so much over the years, she said. Brunelle owns the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts and is the fair’s primary organizer.
“Lorna does a great job,” said Rufo.
The craft fair is held every season, with the fall iteration of the event bringing in the biggest crowds, according to Brunelle.
And this year’s September fair did not disappoint, with great weather enticing thousands to the town hall green. “Mother Nature had a snickers bar and smiled upon us,” Brunelle said, grinning.
Middleboro residents Jen and Greg Thomas make a point to come out to the event multiple times a year.
“We never miss it,” said Jen Thomas, who shared that the variety of food is one of the couple’s favorite parts about the fair.
“It’s one of the biggest events in town so we have to be here,” noted Greg Thomas.
The constantly changing selection of goods and vendors is what Ron Guinan loves about the craft fair. “There’s so many new people every time,” he said.
Sip & Stroll features crafters selling one-of-a-kind pieces, such as wooden flower arrangements made by Kelly Totman of Knotty Totty’s Designs.
According to Totman, who’s lived in Middleboro for ten years, “there’s really nothing not to love about this show.”
“The community and the people that come to this show are amazing,” she said.
Totman’s work is on display at several Middleboro businesses, such as Joyful Scoops ice cream stand, where ice cream bowls made of wooden flowers adorn the walls.
