Select board only contested race in Lakeville
LAKEVILLE — The town will definitely see a new face on the select board now that the Lakeville election ballot has been finalized.
Incumbent Richard LaCamera is not pursuing re-election to the select board. Three candidates are vying for the post: Maureen Candito, Brian Day, and William Hoeg.
But that will be the only contested race for voters to decide at the annual town election Monday, April 3. Four positions have no contenders at all.
Incumbent Stephen Sylvia is running unopposed for re-election to the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Committee.
Three candidates are running for the park commission, which has four open seats.
Park commission candidates are incumbent Scott Holmes and newcomers Brynna Donahue and Melisa Turcotte.
Donahue is running to take over the unexpired term of Michael Cassani.
Incumbents M. John Olivieri and Ruth S. Gross are running unopposed for re-election to the positions of Town Assessor and Library Trustee, respectively.
Incumbent Christopher D. Spratt is running without opposition for a seat on the Board of Health.
Write-in votes will make a big difference in the five races that have no candidates on the ballot.
Those races are: A five-year term on the planning board, a one-year term as town moderator, a three-year term on the finance committee, a two-year term on the cemetery commission, and a two-year term on the park commission.
Town Clerk Lillian Drane will offer the position to the candidate who receives the most write-in votes, if he or she is a town resident. If the winner declines the position, the Select Board has the authority to appoint someone to the vacant position.
Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on April 3. All precincts vote at Ted Williams Camp’s Loon Pond Lodge at 23 Precinct St.
