MIDDLEBORO — A safety audit of Middleboro Public Schools has been completed by A.C.T. for Safety, a company based in Woburn. Middleboro School Committee Chair Rich Young announced on Thursday, Feb. 1 that “no red flags” were found in the audit.

According to Young, the Middleboro School Committee met with A.C.T. for Safety, Superintendent Carolyn Lyons, Police Chief Joseph Perkins and Fire Chief Owen Thompson to discuss the results of the audit on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

“We are very proud of the fact that out of the safety audit, they saw no red flags that raised major concern,” said Young. “They, as with any audit, gave ideas and concepts for us to make change.”

Young said that both Perkins and Thompson were happy with the results of the audit.

A summary of the report will be posted on the Middleboro Public Schools website in a couple of weeks, according to Young.

“We asked the Superintendent to include some of the audit items in a feasibility study for the next 10 years,” said Young.

“I know a lot of families have been reaching out about the safety audit,” said Middleboro School Committee member Chris Benson. “I think it was a good decision to get the third party and I was very pleased with what we heard last night.

Benson added that the safety of everybody within Middleboro Public Schools is a top priority.

According to A.C.T. for Safety’s website, the company “provides a wide range of incident management training and consultations to serve schools, businesses, and public safety agencies of all sizes across Greater Boston.”
