Rotary Club helps raise banners as May 20 service project

MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Rotary Club helped place banners on light poles in and around the town center May 20 as their project for Rotary Day of Service.

The banners were placed as part of the Hometown Heroes project organized by Middleboro Veterans Services Officer Stephen Adelman and sponsored in part by North Easton Savings Bank. Each banner depicts a Middleboro veteran. The banners will be displayed through November.

Middleboro Rotary Club members report that they were proud to help place the banners as their service project. Rotary Clubs across the area selected specific community projects for the May 20 Rotary Day of Service.

“As you walk downtown, look up at the banners on the light poles and whisper a thank you to the veterans honored there for their service,’’ the Middleboro Rotary Club said in a statement.  “We are the land of the free because of each of them and so many others, for so very long.’’

There were more than 50 banners placed by several groups of volunteers.

Rotary Club members thanked Adelman and North Easton Savings Bank for their major support of this effort and all veterans for their service.
