Nostalgia to fill the air at car cruise

Aug 21, 2022

The Middleborough Council on Aging will host a Classic Car Cruise Day from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept 10 on the Council on Aging grounds, 558 Plymouth St.

The Old Colony Model T Club and many other car enthusiasts will be on site with their classic and rare vehicles.

“This is our second annual Cruise Day and we’re happy to be able to offer this event to the community,” said Holly Begley, the COA’s Executive Director. “We’re hoping to see a lot of new faces this year.’’

The Middleborough Lions Club will sell burgers, dogs, fries and chicken nuggets. Middleborough Services to the Elderly will run a 50/50 raffle and sell ice cream treats and beverages.

Visitors can enjoy lunch outdoors under the tent while local band “Too Much Fun” performs oldies rock favorites throughout the afternoon.

To keep children entertained, ventriloquist Kevin Driscoll starts the fun at noon by the gazebo, followed by face painter Kara Andrews from Art on the Spot at 1 p.m.

A bake sale table of packaged goods will benefit the “Good Times Club,” the council’s Adult Supportive Day Program that provides therapeutic social and recreational activities for seniors, as well as respite for their caregivers.

Craft vendors will offer jewelry, apparel, hats, essential oils and more. Jams and jellies, artisan made soaps and specialty pet wear will also be available.

Classic and rare cars owners should come to 558 Plymouth Street to park and show their vehicles in the Council on Aging parking lot. Handicapped parking is available with a placard.

All other visitors attending the event should park at the Town Hall parking lot and take the free shuttle buses to the event.

The Middleborough Council on Aging works to improve and enhance quality of life for seniors in our community by providing a range of services, activities, educational programs and resource referrals to promote their well-being and independence, and to help elders mature with dignity and security.
