Middleboro town manager up for job in Harwich, possible vote tonight
HARWICH — James McGrail, Middleboro town manager, is among three candidates hoping to fill Harwich’s open town administrator position.
Harwich Select Board interviewed McGrail, Marion Town Administrator Geoffrey Gorman and former Winchendon Town Manager Jim Kreidler during a Saturday, Jan. 10 meeting.
During the meeting McGrail said he loves being a town manager, even through the “drama” it can sometimes involve.
“It’s more than problem solving. I like to help the people and I get positioned as the town manager to really help people,” McGrail said.
McGrail, a Sandwich resident, has been Middleboro’s town administrator since 2022. His current contract with Middleboro ends Aug. 31, 2027.
He listed his communication skills and emphasis on teamwork among the reasons he would be a good fit for the position.
“I believe in culture and team probably more than anything…Culture to me is creating an environment where people want to be at work,” McGrail said.
The Harwich Select Board will discuss and possibly vote on its final selection today.
