MIDDLEBORO — Second graders from Henry B. Burkland School in Middleboro recently spread a little holiday cheer to veterans at the Brockton Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton.  

Students made Valentine’s Day cards along with a poster for the hospital.

For the cards the students made poppies and forget-me-not flowers out of heart shapes. A “We Honor our Veterans” poster was made in the shape of a heart using the American Sign Language sign for “I Love You” out of the children's hands.  

Each hand was finished off with a heart cutout in the palm.

Dick Tinkham of The Middleboro Lodge of Elks Veterans Committee delivered the cards and posters to the veterans.
