The 90 minute show featured patriotic standards like "God Bless the USA" and "United We Stand" along with the Armed Forces Service Songs and "Hymn to the Fallen." Students also performed a 60s medley called "Fun in the Sun" and "Over the Rainbow" as well as an homage to the Band Director Justin Pittsley's youth, Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
The group was led to Oak Point by Pittsley, Principal Paul Branagan, Theatre Director Sam Mosher --- who contributed a reading while the band performed "A Jefferson Portrait" --- and Singing Director Ryan Struzziery.
The Oak Point community was thrilled and delighted by the show, said resident and organizer John Burbage.
“For the Oak Point Homeowners Scholarship Fund their arrival was a dream fulfilled as we strive to bring our community together with the schools that we serve,” wrote Burbage in a press release, who is the president of the scholarship fund.
The high school performers are soon headed to Washington DC to play before the Lincoln Memorial. At the start of the show the scholarship fund donated $2,100 in door receipts back to the high school to help with fund the trip.
A resident also added $100 to the trip from their raffle winnings and the Oak Point Veterans Post added another $500 to help with the trip.
