Lakeville Fire Department asks residents for hydrant-help, turkeys pitch in
Feb 28, 2026
LAKEVILLE — While turkeys peck away snow around the Lakeville fire station’s fire hydrants, the fire department is asking residents to also lend a hand in unearthing hydrants in town from the recent snow-dump.
Many fire hydrants around town are still buried from the recent blizzard, according to fire officials, and the department is asking for help clearing them. If residents have a hydrant near their home or business, fire officials ask to take a few minutes to shovel it out to maintain fire safety if an emergency were to occur.
“If you aren’t lucky enough to have a team of highly trained hydrant-clearing turkeys in your neighborhood, please consider clearing a hydrant near your home,” stated the department in a social media post.
