Lakeville author to be featured at Council on Aging program
LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Council on Aging’s next Focus on Lakeville program about a town native and his experiences will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5 at 1 p.m.
While working on his second degree at Bridgewater State University, Lakeville’s Richard Tripp met a group of people who were recruiting for a program called VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America.)
He stopped and listened to what they had to say and his life took on a new direction. Tripp has put together stories of his teaching experiences, tales of learning pueblo pottery and Navajo tapestry weaving, anecdotes of his time living in a remote sheep camp behind the sacred mesa, then living in the pueblo itself, and his observations of tribal ceremonies.
In the program, Tripp will highlight many of his experiences that appear in his book.
Call 508-947-7224 to sign up for the presentation at the Council on Aging, 1 Dear Crossing. His book will be available for sale after his presentation. The cost of his book is $35.
