John William Fleming, 69
Mar 11, 2025
John William Fleming, 69, of Middleboro, was called home to Heaven on March 5th, 2025, passing peacefully in his sleep.
Born to William and Regina Fleming on December 30, 1955 in Braintree, MA, John lived a remarkable life, leaving an everlasting imprint on everyone he met through his unwavering faith and infectious laugh.
John met the love of his life, Elaine, through his best friend at a young age. They went on to marry in 1979. He began a career with the phone company as they raised 4 children together. John lived as if his days were not a mere 24 hours. Working by day, attending Stonehill College by night, playing hockey, coaching his kids’ sports teams, and still finding time to be a loving and present husband and father. John continued to pursue his passion for telecommunications, working with Markley Group for 22 years, retiring in 2023. He is most remembered for his Catholic faith, both for his active participation with Sacred Heart Parish and how he exemplified the word of God everyday.
John cherished every moment of life with family and friends, travelling to Florida and Lake Winnipesaukee, playing golf, and cheering for the Red Sox and Bruins. John looked forward to an eternity with those he loved so dearly. Through his love and faith in God, he was unburdened by the finality of death, and therefore he was able to live… fully and selflessly, with kindness, positivity and laughter. To know him was to see, feel and admire that for a lifetime. He is greatly missed and remembered as the most loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
John is survived by his wife Elaine Fleming, his children Angela Fleming, Jillian and Scott Rivard, Jarrod and Kerri Fleming, and Kelly Fleming, his three grandchildren Olivia, Jaxon and Bodhi, his siblings Charlene Sears, Pat and Janet Fleming, Greg and Bonnie Fleming, Regina and Dominic Pecce, and Billy Fleming, and his in laws/devoted friends John and Paula Nee.
The wake will be held in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street (corner of School Street) Middleboro on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11 AM in Sacred Heart Church of Saint Isidore Parish, 340 Center Street, Middleboro.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to preborn.com, a pro life organization John Fleming felt strongly about.
